One Mid-South community is preparing for a week-long fellowship through local entrepreneurship and its great history.
Tennessee State Representative G.A. Hardaway, along with other local sponsors, will host the Orange Mound Black Restaurant Week February 11-15.
Hardaway explains to Local 24 News the week-long event is about more than just food.
“It’s not merely about the restaurants, but it’s about the economic development. This is what entrepreneurship looks like,” said State Representative G.A. Hardaway.
“It’s a jewel in Orange Mound to have such a place like this. It really brings the community together. That’s one of the ways by bringing the community together is through food,” said sponsor Tamarques Porter.
Restaurants participating are Pop’s Hot Tamales, Smackers, The Wing Factory, and Toney’s Corner Grocery.
